1 Role Available

Litigation associates and senior associates

Our dynamic and growing international shipping practice typically acts for owners, charterers, marine insurers, P&I and Defence clubs, traders, salvors and shipbuilders.

We anticipate offering a generous package to the right candidates.

We specialise in high-end shipping, shipbuilding and commodities litigation, and general commercial litigation, in addition to all types of wet shipping work.

Whilst most of our work is litigation or arbitration, and we have had in the past twelve months some notable successes in reported High Court decisions and in arbitration, there is steady requirement to advise on contract drafting in addition.

The firm is now looking for associate solicitors. We are a friendly, collegiate, and motivated team, free of big-firm politics and targets. You would be based in our City office, but we are flexible with regard to home working.

We expect this to be a supportive platform from which you will have the freedom to develop a following, and your long-term practice.

In order to be considered for this role you will have many of the following attributes:

- A strong academic background, and be a bright “go-getter”

- Be a technically strong and well-trained disputes lawyer familiar with litigation in the Commercial Court and/or under LMAA, LCIA, and similar arbitration rules

- Probably have 2+ years’ experience in a shipping firm, or 5+ years for a senior associate, perhaps with some time in-house

- Depending upon your seniority, the makings of a client following

- Be ambitious, self-motivated and hard-working

- Be willing to travel, present and talk at conferences

- Have the ability to work as part of a team or as an individual contributor, and will be a strong communicator

- Be able to lead, motivate, train and mentor more junior members of staff

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing firm with a bright future.
